The following citizens of the Republic of Lithuania and persons who retain the right to citizenship of the Republic of Lithuania, return or have returned to Lithuania after 11 March 1990 permanently from the territory of the former USSR (hereinafter referred to as the 'returnees') with their family members* are entitled to receive State support to compensate for the costs of resettlement and social integration:

  • Political prisoners and deportees who have been declared innocent by the Republic of Lithuania and have had all their civil rights restored.
  • Children of the aforementioned individuals, whose legal status as deportees has been recognised under the Law of the Republic of Lithuania on the Legal Status of Persons Victims of the Occupations of 1939-1990, as having the legal status of a deportee as a victim of the occupations. This support is also provided to children of political prisoners and deportees without the need to obtain a certificate of legal status of an exile from the Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania as a victim of the occupation.

IMPORTANT.

Support is provided directly to political prisoners, deportees and their children. Only persons with this status or children of persons with this status can benefit from the support provided for social integration.

* The family members of the returnee include the person's parents, spouse, children (adopted children) under 18 years of age, as well as over 18 years of age – are unmarried if they are pupils or students of formal education institutions.
